Music & Mind – explores the connection between music and mental health

MUSIC & MIND

We would like to invite you to a unique event that explores the connection between music and mental health, and how it can be used to promote peace and wellbeing. This event is scheduled for Friday, September 16th, 2022, and will take place at the Otago Room in the OUSA Building from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The event’s objective is to raise awareness about the powerful impact that music can have on mental health, and to encourage attendees to explore this connection further. It will include a program of activities designed to engage both the mind and the body, and to create a welcoming, supportive environment for all participants.

The program will begin with greetings at 11:00 am, where attendees will have the opportunity to meet and connect with other participants. Then, at 11:10 am, Bethany Cook, an acclaimed musician and singer, will perform a special song that she has written for this event.

At 11:30 am, a guided meditation session will be conducted, led by an experienced meditation practitioner. This session will be an opportunity for attendees to practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques that can be beneficial for mental health.

After the meditation session, all participants will be treated to a complimentary lunch, providing an opportunity for further discussion and socialization. The event will conclude by 12:30 pm, allowing attendees to return to their daily routines feeling refreshed and re-energized.

We welcome everyone to attend this event, regardless of their background or experience with mental health or music. However, to help us plan for the event, we kindly request that you RSVP before 10:00 pm on September 15th, 2022. You can do this by sending an email to info@thepeace.co.nz with your name and contact details.

We hope that you will join us for this enlightening and enriching event, where you can discover how music and mindfulness can help to promote peace and wellbeing in our lives.
